New Year's Eve, a street festival will be held in Thamel

KATHMANDU, Dec 30:The 'New Year's Eve Thamel Street Festival' will be held on the occasion of the English New Year.

According to the Thamel Tourism Development Council, a road festival with several activities will be place the following Sunday evening, December 31, 2023 (Poush 15).

The festival will be inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka. According to Bhaviswar Sharma, Chairman of the Council, about 180,000 local and foreign tourists would attend the festival.

The festival will cost 2.2 million , according to him.It will begin at 5:30 pm on Sunday and end at 12:30 am.

President Sharma said that initiatives will be taken to make Thamel known at the national and international levels. Businessmen will be able to promote their goods and services on that day.

According to him, the event would include Dhime Baja, Lakhe Naach, and other original cultural programs.

He said that coordination has been made with the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police and Nepal Police for security arrangements targeting the festival.
