Seven elephants compete in beauty pageant at Sauraha

CHITWAN, Dec 28:Seven elephants participated in the ongoing elephant beauty contest in Chitwan's Sauraha.

The competition of seven beautiful elephants began Wednesday, on the second day of the 17th edition of the Chitwan Tourism and Elephant Festival, which began on Tuesday in Sauraha, Chitwan.

The elephant beauty contest was attended by Selfikali, Samriddhikali, Laxmikali, Bijjakali, Ranimayakali, Champakali, and Rimzhimkali.

On the last day of the festival, the judging team of five persons will give the results of the first, second, and third most beautiful elephants. While speaking to the media at the festival's venue, Vinod Timilsina, a member of the competition's jury, stated that the competition's decision will be based on the beauty of the eyes, walk, body shape, whether or not the mouth says, and the condition of the hair.

He stated that he will assess broken/unbroken nails, walking, and so on. According to the decision-making committee, it will present its results to the organizers today and make a decision on the 30th December.

The first, second, and third place winners will receive 15, 10, and 5 thousand rupees, respectively, while all competitors will receive one thousand rupees. According to the organizer, beauty may be found in both humans and animals, hence the event has been promoted as a competition.
