"Protection of park and tourism should be promoted together"

CHITWAN, Dec 28:The '17th Chitwan Elephant and Tourism Festival' has begun in Sauraha, Chitwan. Dr. Prakasharan Mahat, Festival Finance Minister, formally inaugurated it on Tuesday. On that occasion, he emphasized the importance of promoting both tourism and security in Chitwan National Park, as well as the maintenance of biological diversity. Finance Minister Mahat also stated that it is past time to revise the Parks Act, which was passed in 2029 BS. "There is a need to change and modify the Act of Parks in time," said the minister. "It is also necessary to link the security of the park and tourism together."

He stated that the old Parks Act increased the gap between the parks and the public, and that it needed to be modified to reflect the passage of time. He also stated the government's intention to launch an initiative to amend the Parks Act.

He stated that biological diversity cannot be conserved until the concept of 'parks for people and people for parks' is developed. He stated that the Parks Act should not be an impediment to local and community development. "The importance of the park should not be allowed to decrease," Mahat, the finance minister, told. "The government is ready to fulfill its obligations to increase its importance."

He believes that investing in people's livelihoods may reduce conflict between humans and wild animals. Likewise, he stated that the government will invest in infrastructure development in East Chitwan.
