Nepal to sign air service agreements with Switzerland and Indonesia

KATHMANDU, Dec 24:Nepal is preparing a bilateral aviation service agreement with Switzerland, a European country. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has begun the process of negotiating aviation agreements with a number of countries, including Switzerland.

According to Budhisagar Lamichhane, head and joint secretary of the ministry's civil aviation division, appropriate preparations have been completed in accordance with the agreement that a bilateral air service agreement will be signed with Switzerland in Kathmandu in the first week of February. He stated that the agreement is being coordinated with Indonesia, a Middle East Asian country.

"Coordination is underway for a bilateral air agreement with Indonesia," said Lamichhane, the division's head. "The time has yet to be determined."

The cabinet meeting authorized the air deal with each of those countries. A new aviation service agreement with Russia will be signed soon by the government. Coordination is also being done for this reason, according to the Ministry.

Previously, on December 5th, a bilateral air service agreement was signed between the governments of Nepal and Rwanda. With this addition, Nepal now has bilateral aviation service agreements with 41 nations. According to the government, negotiations for bilateral aviation agreements with other countries are also underway.
