Nepal.' The Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality is set to declare 2024 as the "Year of Visiting Bharatpur," aiming to spotlight the city's cultural diversity, geographical richness, and natural wonders.

Renowned as the gateway to Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Bharatpur Metropolitan City is joining forces with the private sector for the first time to enhance its allure as a tourist destination. The collaborative effort aims to elevate tourism by showcasing the city's natural, cultural, religious, and historical treasures, fostering an increase in both the number of tourists and their duration of stay.

The grand inauguration of the tourism year is scheduled for January 1st, 2024, with ambitious targets set to welcome 700,000 tourists, comprising 500,000 domestic and 200,000 foreign visitors. Chitrasen Adhikari, Deputy Head of the metropolis, emphasized the crucial role of tourism professionals in ensuring the success of this tourism endeavor. Adhikari underlined that the benefits of the tourism year extend beyond the city's economic prosperity, encompassing the nation as a whole. He called for cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders, including the private sector and local authorities, to establish Bharatpur as a premier tourist city.

Binayak Shah, President of the Hotel Association Nepal, pledged full support from hoteliers during the Bharatpur visit year. Shah reassured that tourists will experience top-notch service facilities with an abundance of places to eat and stay. While expressing optimism, President Shah raised concerns about the accessibility of Bharatpur, particularly the impact of land routes from Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Lumbini on the success of the visitation year.

Dr. Bishwa Subedi, the tourism expert advisor to the metropolis, played a crucial role in emphasizing the necessity of the campaign for economic prosperity. He highlighted that the primary goal of the tourism year is to substantially increase tourist numbers by promoting and expanding the tourism sector. Dr. Subedi stressed the importance of meaningful growth in the sector, aiming to achieve economic prosperity through the promotion and expansion of tourism activities.
