Tourists flocking to Ghorepani and Poonhill

KATHMANDU, Dec 07:Tourists are flocking to Poonhil, a tourist destination, a tourist spot located in Annapurna rural municipality-6 of Myagdi, which is covered by the Annapurna Circuit trek route. The number of visitors has increased since domestic and foreign tourists began to visit to see the mountains and the sunrise.

Domestic and foreign tourists have increased to enjoy the natural beauty of Poonhill at an elevation of 3,200 meters in September, October, and November. According to Amrit Garbuja, a member of the Ghorepani-Poon Hill management group, approximately 15,000 domestic and foreign tourists visited Poonhil this season. He stated that over 12,000 foreign tourists and 3,000 Nepalese tourists had visited Poonhill.

The sunrise and the Himalaya'' range can be seen from Poonhill, which is on the Annapurna Circuit trek route. A trekking trail has been built from Ghodepani (2,810 meters above sea level) to Poonhill. A large number of foreign tourists have come to see the dozens of Himalaya ranges, such as Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna, which can be seen in the morning with the sunrise.

Gyan Bahadur Garbuja, an Ghodepani hotelier, stated that 26 hotels with a daily capacity of 1,000 are operating in Ghodepani for tourist accommodation. To attract tourists, the Magar Museum, which reflects the Magars' historical and cultural identity, has opened.

The area around Ghodepani and Poonhil also has Asia's largest Rhododendron forest. There are 16 bird species found here. Despite being geographically remote, hoteliers report an increase in tourist arrivals due to telephone, mobile, and internet access, roads, lodging, and dining facilities.
