Manakamana cable car completed 25 years, 18 million passengers have taken the service

KATHMANDU, Nov 24:The Manakamana cable car, Nepal's first, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The cable car, which began operations on November 24, 1998, has served 1 crore 80 lakh 93 thousand 255 passengers throughout this time.

Rajeshbabu Shrestha, the director of the company, said that from the beginning till now, one and a half billion revenue has been submitted to the government. According to him, 65 percent of the passengers on the cable car are Nepalese, while 25 percent are Indians.

An investment of 65 crore rupees was made in establishing the cable car. On Thursday, under the tourism sector, it received the honored of the highest taxpayer in 2078/79 BS. The company has paid a tax of Rs 2 crore.

The cable car has been in operation for more than 74 hours. During this time, 18 million units of power were spent through cable car operation, and over 700,000 liters of fuel were consumed.
