Mountaineer Nimsdai took non-resident Nepali citizenship

MYAGDI, Nov 09:Nirmal Purja, the world's record holder mountaineer, has obtained non-resident Nepali citizenship.

Purja, who set a record by climbing all 14 mountains of 8000 meters in height in 6 months and 6 days, took citizenship from Myagdi district administration office on Thursday. Tulsiram Paudel, Chief District Officer, handed over the citizenship to him.

Purja also set a record as a member of the first Nepalese team to summit K2, the world's second highest mountain, in the winter.

"Right now, I feel very proud," Purja said after getting citizenship. "Whenever people ask me who I am, I say I am a Nepali." I adore my motherland as much as I adore my mother. Nepal is present in my blood cells. In the next days, I will continue to try to raise Nepal's profile on the international scene.'

Purja, who was born in Dana, Myagdi, served in the British Gurkha Army and the UK Special Forces for 16 years.

He is also the world goodwill ambassador for the Nepal Tourism Board, and is also known as Nimsdai.

He also works to promote Nepal's tourism and culture throughout the world.
