Govt to begin build process of Nijgadh International Airport

KATHMANDU, Nov 09:The government will begin the process of construction of Nijgadh International Airport.

The cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to implement the report of the expert committee formed to give suggestions on the construction of Nijgadh airport.

The Council of Ministers has directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation to implement this report, according to Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson. Concerning the Council of Ministers decision, Minister Sharma stated, 'It has been resolved to proceed with the process of construction of Nijgarh Airport.'

The Supreme Court had ordered a study by experts for the construction of an airport in Nijgarh so that there would be no environmental damage. After that, the expert committee formed by the government gave a report that the airport can be built with less environmental damage.
