CAAN forms committee to study feasibility of build airport in Dharan

KATHMANDU, Nov 09:The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority formed a committee to study the possibility of construction an airport in the  Sunsari's Dharan  sub-municipality.

A committee has been formed under the coordination of the authority's manager engineer Nal Bikram Thapa, with members including manager Anil Basnet and senior officer Bimal Khanal.

Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, has previously directed the authority to study the feasibility of constructing an airport in Dharan.

Locally, the Dharan sub-municipality is putting pressure on the government to establish an airport in the area.

When there are other airports near Dharan, there is a general protest as to why an airport is needed in that area.

On Wednesday, Harka Sampang Rai, the Mayor of Dharan, wrote to Minister Kirati, asking that he take the initiative to develop an airport in Dharan.
