Bharatpur Metropolitan plans to attract seven lakh tourists by 2024

CHITWAN, NoV 02:The Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality has planned a tourism year with the goal of attracting 7 lakh tourists by 2024.

Mayor Renu Dahal told journalists on Wednesday that 2024 will be designated as the year of tourism as part of the 'Ghumaun Bharatpur' campaign.

In a given year, the metropolis hopes to attract 7 lakh tourists to various attractions within the Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality.

Chitwan National Park is a popular tourist destination that is easily accessible from the city. Domestic visitors visit Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality to visit Devghat, Meghauli, Golaghat, Patihani, Jagatpur, Bisahjari lake, Batuli pond, Narayani riverfront region, Sivaghat, Bageshwari, Ganeshdham, and Chowki Danda. The metropolis is currently striving to categorize the locations by providing a list of 31 destinations.

Every year, around 30,000 foreign tourists have entered Chitwan National Park from Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Tourists entering the park from Kasara and Meghauli are regarded as having entered from Bharatpur. Hotels with facilities have opened at Patihani, Jagatpur, and Meghauli, with significant investment. The number of foreign tourists entering park via Bharatpur Metropolis is expected to reach 2 lakh by 2024.

The Metropolitan Municipality is going to establish a wildlife rescue center at Bharatpur-13 Devanagar so that tourists can observe tigers, one-horned rhinoceros and other species.

We have established a goal of attracting more than 500,000 tourists to Devghat and other tourism spots. Previously, it was expected that 400,000 tourists visited Bharatpur each year.The Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality estimates that 7 lakh people will watch it next year.

Bharatpur Visit Year is being promoted in 55 countries by NNRN representatives.

Mayor Dahal said that the process of opening a certain area of Diyalo Bunglow Darbar in Bharatpur-1 Anptari to the general public is underway targeting the visit year itself. Diyalo Bunglow was built by the then King Mahendra Shah in the year 2026.

There are cruise ships, motor boats, rafting boats, paragliding on the Chowki Danda, cable cars on the Narayani River, and the neighboring Maulakalika Temple at Gaindakot. "These are also important destinations for Bharatpur's tourism development," she added. "We are coordinating with other local levels and districts to make the tourism year successful."

The city has set up 30 million rupees for the visitation year. The Bagmati state government has committed Rs 20 million and the federal government has contributed Rs 7 million.

Gaindakot and Bharatpur currently have hotels with a capacity of 750 persons. Hotels in the Chitwan area and Gaindakot can accommodate 15,000 tourists.
