UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to visit ABC
POKHARA, Oct 29:During his visit to Nepal, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will visit Pokhara. Guterres arrived in Kathmandu in the wee hours of Sunday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Guterres is scheduled to visit Pokhara during his visit to Nepal, according to Kaski Chief District Officer Basudev Ghimire. CDO Ghimire informed that Guterres coming to Pokhara is scheduled to reach the world famous Annapurna basecamp.
"There is also a schedule to reach the Annapurna base camp from Pokhara Airport by helicopter," the chief deputy officer of Kaski stated. "Security arrangements will be tightened according to the protocol."
Pokhara's tourism businessmen is excited that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will visit the Annapurna base camp.
Mount Annapurna is the first mountain in the world to be climbed above 8,000 meters.Maurice Herzog, a French citizen, made the first ascent of Annapurna in 1950. Only three years later, Mount Everest was ascended.
Pomnarayan Shrestha, chairman of the Pokhara Tourism Council, stated that it will aid in reintroducing Pokhara's tourism industry to the international market.
Guterres will also observe the effects of climate change in the Himalayas and connect with affected communities while in Nepal.
