Foreign currency income increased by 53.9 percent
KATHMANDU:Foreign currency income has recently increased in conjunction with the increase in arrivals from tourists.
According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, tourist income surged by 53.9 percent in the second month (Bhadra) of the current fiscal year 2080/81.
Tourist income has reached 9.33 billion rupees, according to the National Bank.
Previously, in the second month of 2079/80, tourist income was 6.6 billion rupees.
The number of tourists visiting Nepal has increased in 2023 as a after of the Covid pandemic. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, 692 thousand visitors visited Nepal during the first ten months of 2023 (January to October).
Whereas in the year 2022, 614,000 tourists had entered.
Currently, when the tourist season in Nepal is iis going, around one lakh tourists arrive each month. As a result, tourist revenue has soared.
Similarly, the expenses for studying and traveling abroad from Nepal increased by 76.5 percent and reached 35.59 billion.
Previously, in the second month of 2079/80, the expenditure from Nepal for studying and traveling abroad was 20 billion 16 million rupees.
