Mardania as re-elected President of Homestay Federation

CHITWAN:Premshankar Mardania was elected president of the Homestay Federation during its fourth national congress. The conference in Madi, Chitwan, on Saturday re-elected Mardania as president for a second four-year term.

The 51-member central committee now has six vice presidents and one general secretary. Vice presidents include Baburaja Maharjan, Dhanishwar Basyal, Ekraj Ghimire, Prakash Gurung, Rachna Batha, Lakshminarayan Chowdhury, and General Secretary Krishnalal Choudhary. The conference was attended by 385 delegates from throughout the country.

The federation includes private and community homestays in 1,500 villages throughout 68 districts in Nepal. There are claimed to be 7000 homestays in 1500 communities. The homestay has a capacity of 28,000 people every night. 

The newly elected president, Mardania, underlined the importance of making the homestay created as the main base of village tourism more efficient. He stated that homestays play an important role in monetarily benefiting the community, keeping youth from traveling overseas, and eating village produce in the village.
