Agreement between Nepal Mountain Academy and Nepal Mountaineering Association for development of mountain tourism

KATHMANDU, Oct 18:The Nepal Mountain Academy and the Nepal Mountaineering Association have signed an agreement to promote mutual understanding and cooperation in the sustainable growth, expansion, and promotion of mountain tourism.

An agreement for collaboration in personnel development, training, and mountain tourist training was inked during a program on Monday.

It has also been agreed that basic mountaineering and high mountaineering training Academy, which the association is regularly conducting, will not do.

The Presidents of Nepal Mountain Academy, Ungdi Chiring Sherpa, and Nepal Mountaineering Association, Nima Nuru Sherpa, signed a five-point mutual agreement.

An agreement has been made between the two parties to implement programs such as coordination and collaboration training. Similarly, it has been agreed to split the expense of a collaborative training program that will be certified by both sides.

The Academy's president, Ungdi Chiring Sherpa, stated that the agreement will strengthen both institutions and contribute in the development of the mountain tourist sector as a whole. He went on to say, "It is inevitable that both organizations born for the same purpose should cooperate for the development of the mountain tourism sector."

The NMA's president, Nima Nuru Sherpa, believes that the Academy would work in such a way that there is no overlap between its theoretical and practical activities. "We believe that there will be cooperation rather than interference in the association's work."

When the NMA conducts training, it has been agreed to obtain a 20% quota for students involved in the academy's educational program. Similarly, the NMA has pledged to grant at least one full scholarship per academic session to students enrolled in the academy's undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs.

The letter of engagement states that if the minimum number of students is attained, separate training will be provided. The partnership is expected to last five years.
