After five days flight from Manthali to Lukla starts as weather improves

KATHMANDU, Oct 13:Flights from Manthali in Ramechhap to Lukla have begun due to the weather improving. On Thursday, the Manthali-Lukla flight resumed after being grounded for five days due to poor weather. The tourists who have been trapped in Ramechhap for five days have begun departing for Lukla at the beginning of the flight.

At Lukla Airport, which has more than 40 flights per day in good weather, Tara Air is slated to fly 15 flights, according to spokesperson Sudarshan Bertaula. The flight was canceled due to poor weather. Some of the tourists went to the Everest region via Lukla on foot by Phaplu flight, while some went to their destination by helicopter.  The weather has improved and the flight has gotten simpler as of Thursday.

Earlier flights from Kathmandu to Lukla are now from Ramechhap to Lukla.  The Ramechhap-Lukla flights have gotten easier thanks to the infrastructure that the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has put in place.

Additionally, there are additional improvements being made. For the time being, airlines operating out of Lukla have asked for baggage x-ray machines at Ramechhap and Lukla. These airports currently lack x-ray equipment, thus luggage and personal items must be physically scanned. Because of this, it takes longer and is more challenging for the tourists to repack the items they brought. This airport serves flights by Tara Air, Summit Air, and Sita Air.
