STLRP Project Receives 'PATA Gold' Award

KATHMANDU, Oct 08:The Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project (STLRP) has received the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award-2023.


The project got the PATA Gold Award-2023 in conjunction with the Nepal Tourism Board and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

PATA has bestowed the PATA Gold Award 2023 on STLRP in recognition of their activities in women empowerment through tourism, sustainability, and social responsibility.
 
Peter Simon, President of PATA International, awarded the prize at the PATA Travel Mart 2023 in New Delhi.

This year, the prize, which was established in 1995, was handed to 23 different organizations in various categories.

The STLRP project already got a PATA Gold Award in the Tourism Destination Resiliency category in 2022.

Similarly, Pata bestowed a special honor on it in 2023.

Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board and National Director of the project, stated that the work being done by the project has been appreciated and the board has been encouraged to do more.

We have been carrying out operations ranging from rescuing visitors to personnel development and some infrastructure development in response to the impact of COVID. In honor of our efforts, we have received numerous international prizes. Dr. Regmi stated, "This has encouraged us to do more work."

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the Board and STLRP have been pursuing various projects in the establishment of tourist attractions, including capacity building for women and other tourism professionals.

River guides for women, trekking guides for sexual and gender minorities, and various tourism training and guide manuals are being developed as part of this initiative.

So far, the programme has delivered various sorts of training to approximately 1,000 women.
