"Scaling New Peaks:Seven Summit Treks Takes Adventure Tourism to New Heights with 113 Expeditions"

KATHMANDU, Oct 05:The Seven Summit Treks (SST), a pioneering Kathmandu-based trekking and expedition company, has made history by arranging the highest number of expeditions to Mount Manaslu, the world's eighth highest peak, in the month of September 2023 alone. A total of 113 expeditions were organized, marking a significant milestone in the adventure tourism industry.

Most of the expeditions were led by Seven Summit Treks, with others being organized by its sister organizations, 14 Peaks Expedition and Global Expedition. Established by four Sherpa brothers, who themselves are experienced mountaineers, SST has played a vital role in promoting high-altitude adventure tourism in the Himalayan and Karakoram regions.

Since its establishment in 2010, SST has been dedicated to promoting adventure tourism in Nepal. Specializing in trekking and expedition services, the company has organized numerous expeditions in the 8000ers of Nepal, China, and Pakistan over the past two decades. Recognizing the importance of making tourism accessible to all, SST remains committed to providing the best service to its clients.

"We strive to offer the best service to our clients. It is our commitment," said Chhang Dawa Sherpa, the Director of Seven Summit Treks. The company's chairperson, Mingma Sherpa, also added, “SST truly believes in the importance of making tourism accessible to all, and continues working to achieve this goal.”

Manaslu, also known as Kutang, is situated in the Mansiri Himal in the west-central part of Nepal. The mountain's name, which means 'mountain of the spirit', reflects its mystic allure. It is also famously known as the 'Killer Mountain of the World' due to the high fatality rate of climbers and the risks associated with avalanches.

The peak was first conquered by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, members of a Japanese expedition, on 9 May 1956. Located 64 km east of Annapurna, Manaslu is the highest peak in the Gorkha district. The region offers a variety of trekking options, with the popular Manaslu trekking route spanning 177 km around the Manaslu massif, across the pass, and down to Annapurna. The climb usually takes around 65 days to complete.

For those seeking to conquer Mt Manaslu, the entry point to the peak is either through Dhadingbesi or Gorkha. There are two main routes to reach the Base Camp. The Gorkha route covers a total distance of 120.6 km, passing through Kalanchowk, Deurali, Gumda, Jagat, Philim, Bihi, Namrung, and Samagaun. The Dhadingbesi route, slightly shorter at 120.1 km, takes climbers through Arughat, Jagat, Philim, Bihi, Namrung, and Samagaun.

The record-breaking number of expeditions to Mount Manaslu organized by Seven Summit Treks in September 2023 alone serves as evidence to the company's expertise and success in the adventure tourism industry. As Seven Summit Treks continues to strive for eminence, it undoubtedly plays a vital role in positioning Nepal as a premier destination for high-altitude adventure seekers.
