Street festival to be held in Pokhara on World Tourism Day

POKHARA, Sep 25:The tourist city of Pokhara to celebrate the 44th World Tourism Day on September 27. A mini street festival will be organized in Pokhara to celebrate the Tourism day.

Pomnarayan Shrestha, chairman of the Pokhara Tourism Council, said a press conference on Sunday that World Tourism Day will be commemorated by hosting various events to make tourism, which has slowed owing to the Corona pandemic, viable.

He stated that the program will be coordinated by the Pokhara Tourism Council and promoted by the Gandaki Province Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry, and Environment, the Pokhara Metropolitan City, and the Nepal Tourism Board.

On the occasion of the ceremony, he stated that Indian tour operators and Indian media representatives will be in Pokhara, and that Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava will be a special guest.

"Regarding the tourism of Pokhara, there will be interaction between Indian tour operators and Nepali tour operators and media persons," he stated.

On the eve of the day, on September 26, the Chairman of TAAN Gandaki told that the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki will identify, promote, and arrange a one-day trekking program from Pokhara's Margi to Pumdikot.

He stated that a group of 150 persons, including tourism professionals, local and foreign tourists, will hike from Shimla to Pumdikot.

On the day of the day, a mini street festival will be organized by the Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN) Pokhara from 5 pm to Barahichowk.

The festival, with the theme 'Eat on the streets, enjoy on the streets,' is expected to make a substantial contribution to luring local and foreign tourists to Pokhara.

On that day, NATTA Gandaki Province will hold a tree planting and blood donation program at the Pokhara Tourism Bus Park.

Shrestha, the council's chairman, stated that on that day, active tourism-related groups in Pokhara will host a ceremony to welcome the first tourists to Pokhara International Airport and Pokhara Tourism Bus Park.

Kumansingh Gurung, secretary of Gandaki Province's Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry, and Environment, stated that World Tourism Day will be observed in all 11 districts of the province.
