CNP demolishes illegal structures

CHITWAN, Sep 22: 22 illegal constructions have been dismantled in Chitwan National Park (CNP). The Nepali Army and park workers razed illegal constructions in Kusumkhola, Madi Municipality-9, utilizing elephants as well.

According to Ganesh Tiwari, the park's information officer, the army and park employees arrived with elephants and dismantled the illegal constructions. The park did not demolish Kajiman Praja's house and structures, which were already in the same location.

Tiwari stated that the number of individuals encroaching on the forest in the middle area is increasing, and they were compelled to remove their houses despite being constantly told not to build them. He stated that after constructing structures, he began farming in the surrounding area.

The park has also repeatedly demolished illegal constructions in the past years. Tiwari informed that the Chepang families from different places of Chitwan and Makwanpur built a tent in Kusumkhola. He says that people who have houses elsewhere have also built illegal structures.
