KATHMANDU, Sep 12:Pokhara tourism entrepreneurs are inviting citizens of West Bengal, India, to visit the Pokhara. Pokhara entrepreneurs have invited Indian citizens to visit Pokhara by participating in the 'Bengal Travel Mart' in Siliguri.
Nepali tourism entrepreneurs are marketing Nepal by setting up stalls at the Travel Mart. According to Hariram Adhikari, president of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Gandaki, at the stand, entrepreneurs have exhibited documentaries on Pokhara, Muktinath, trekking route, and so on, and Indian nationals and entrepreneurs who visit the stall have been urged to visit Pokhara.
"We have invited Indian citizens and entrepreneurs who came to Bengal Travel Mart to visit Pokhara," he explained, "and they are interested in visiting Pokhara and the surrounding areas."
Tourism entrepreneurs from Nepal, Bhutan, and India participate in the Travel Mart. According to the official, tour packages are marketed between entrepreneurs from various nations, and tourists that visit the stall are sold Pokhara packages.
The bazaar is attended by tourism workers from Pokhara, Kathmandu, Koshi Pradesh, and other locations. Foreign tourists and tourism entrepreneurs interested in Nepal have complained about the poor condition of the country's roadways. They remark that getting to Pokhara is difficult due to the poor condition of the Prithvi Highway and the Siddharth Highway, which are both under development.
Even though there was some difficulties because the roadway was under construction, President Adhikari assured us that it would be easier after the rains stopped.
Pokhara tourism entrepreneurs had previously participated in the seventh edition of the Bengal Travel Mart. According to Sangeeta Poudel, general secretary of Natta Gandaki, if Pokhara is promoted as Nepal's border city, the number of Indian tourists will increase much more.
"These days, the majority of Indian tourists who come to Pokhara are from the border towns," she explained, adding, "We have gone to Bengal to promote Pokhara in the border towns."
The majority of visitors to Pokhara following the Covid-19 pandemic are Indians. From January to the first week of June, just 51,000 Indian tourists visited Muktinath. Poudel believes that if Pokhara is promoted in Indian towns, the number of tourists will grow even more.
