Tharu Homestay and Museum starts in Dang

DANG, Sep 09:As the Tharu culture disappears the youth are working to preserve it. When the identity of the Tharu community, which is known for its rich customs and culture, began to fade, the youth took action to preserve it. Dangisharan rural municipality-4 Baibang of Dang youngsters have run a little Tharu museum and a 'homestay'.

There are clothes, food, and other goods from the Tharu community maintained there. "The Tharu community is rich in Tharu traditions and culture, but there has recently been a growing complaint that the youth have forgotten this tradition and culture," Tharu youth Rajesh Chaudhary said.

Traditional Tharu community women's clothing, jewelry, and everyday usage dhiki, jato, kol, dali, and dhakia are stored here. The Tharu community's customs and culture were distinct from those of other communities. Then there are the homestays and little museums run by active young people. "People from the city market come to see, chat, and get an opportunity to hear and share their experiences," Chaudhary explained.

The Tharu Museum Chakhaura and Sukora, governed by Tharu King Dangisharan, are nearby, and the young have built a tiny Tharu Museum in between. Village Vice President Pimakumari Khadka stated that while tourists come to study and watch the temple, natural heritage, and so on, the homestays set up by the youth will also bring economic success to the municipality.

"Homestays and museums increase the number of visitors," she explains. Dhikri, Tharu's traditional food, is provided here, along with fish and other dishes.
