KTTOAN provides training to guides
KATHMANDU, Sep 05:The Korea Tours and Trekking Operator Association of Nepal (KTTOAN) has provided training to its tour guides on service amenities and nutritious diets.
On Friday, KTTOAN held a training in Kathmandu, where tour guides were taught how to give good service and healthy meals to Korean visitors visiting Nepal, as well as how to implement safety precautions.
According to KTTOAN's chairman, Amar Bahadur Shahi, this training was prepared specifically for the personnel of trekking and travel comapny affiliated with KTTOAN. He also stated that the field crew had received training on how to prepare healthy food. Shahi also stated that 90 percent of Korean tourists who visit Nepal do so directly through Nepali agents. While 50 percent of travelers visiting other countries travel through Indian travel companies.
Ngawa Ngima Sherpa, executive member of the tourism board and treasurer of KTTOAN, said that since Korean tourists eat Korean food while hiking and climbing, they organized this training on how to organize hygiene. According to Sherpa, even though Nepal has become an attractive destination for Korean tourists, there are no tourism-friendly government policies and plans as well as physical infrastructure. He said that although there are fewer Korean tourists in mountain climbing, trekking is just as attractive and the number has also increased.
Master chef Santosh Sah, Aung Dorje Sherpa and others have trained about healthy food and Korean food. Mountain Leader and Instructor Dawa Tasi Sherpa on Mountain Safety and Rescue and Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first female mountain climbing instructor on Climbing History, Challenges for Female Clients and Expedition Behavior.
The program was attended by the Korean Ambassador to Nepal PARK, Tae-Young, the Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Dhananjay Regmi, and the Director General of the Department of Tourism Hom Prasad Luitel.
