Maya Sherpa successfully scale Mount Kenya

KATHMANDU, Sep 03:Maya Sherpa, the former second vice president of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and president of the Mount Everest Climbing Association, has scaled Mount Kenya in Africa.

Sherpa, who was born in Patle-5, Ripal, Okhaldhunga, successfully scaled Mount Kenya on August 31 at 8 a.m. Kenya time. Along with her, 18 female International Lions Club delegates from 18 countries reported that they had successfully scaled the peak.

Sherpa have successfully climbed seven of the world's fourteen 8,000-meter summits. She has summited Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Annapurna.

She began her ascent of the peak in 2003. Maya made her first ascent of Ama Dablam in 2003. As an example of what women are capable of, she went on a quest to climb 14 mountains higher than 8000 meters around the world, and she has so far climbed seven.
