Airline companies should have at least five aircrafts for regular flights within 5 years

KATHMANDU, Sep 03:The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority (CAAN) issued nine new provisions revising the 'Air Operator Certificate Requirement (AOCR). In which all airlines have agreed to increase the number of aircraft to at least five within the next five years. The CAAN has also stated that the merger policy is acceptable.

Similarly, the CAAN has mandated that new enterprises seeking to provide aviation services have at least three aircraft.

Likewise, the standards state that the chairpersons, share holders, executive directors and managers, and position holders of the airline companies should not engage in activities that are contrary to the policies of CAAN and the government of Nepal, and should not publicly express their views on the subject.  

The airline company's managers and office-bearers must not be involved in activities (such as tours and travels) that are directly or indirectly in conflict with the company's interests; the chairman, share holder, executive director, and manager are not permitted to engage in commercial flight or maintenance activities; and pilots are not permitted to engage in commercial activities other than flying.  

Investors are not permitted to sell or transfer their shares for at least five years after receiving the no objection letter. Government-owned or private airline companies are not permitted to appoint managers and post holders without the approval of CAAN, and CAAN will issue special procedures regarding the appointment of accountable managers, minimum qualification, experience, and authority.
