Rafting to be organized from Sundarijal to Chobhar on Saturday

KATHMANDU, August 31: A rafting trip will be organized from Sundarijal to Chobhar on Saturday to keep the Bagmati River clean and promote the river’s importance to civilization.


Chief of Kathmandu District Coordination Committee, Santosh Budhathoki said that the program has been organized to raise awareness to keep the Bagmati River clean, tidy, and beautiful, to control pollution in the river, and to assist in tourism promotion of the region.


The committee is going to organize a rafting program with the help of Kathmandu Metropolis and all 10 municipalities to explore possibilities for promoting tourism in the areas around the river banks of Kathmandu district and exposing the Bagmati civilization.


Nepal Rafting & Canoeing Association (NRCA) and Bagmati Province Rafting and Coneing Association will provide technical support to the program which will take place from Sundarijal of Gokarneshwar municipality.


In a press conference, President of Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) Shiv Adhikari expressed his belief that rafting will play a role in promoting the protection of Bagmati civilization and culture as well as promoting water tourism.
