Flight to Humla resumes after five days

KATHMANDU, August 28: Flight operations have resumed in Humla after five days.

Air flights were disrupted in the Himalayan districts of Karnali, including Humla, as the weather worsened with continuous rain. The air service of the district had been disrupted since Monday morning last week.

Humla station in-charge Govinda Lama said that the first flight of Summit Air from Nepalgunj to Simkot was carried out this morning when the weather in the district was clear. After 10 a.m., when the weather improved, private airlines were able to resume their operations.

With the resumption of air services, travel for passengers going outside the district and passengers coming within the district has become somewhat comfortable. Daily consumables have been imported into the district following the resumption of air services to the district. Along with this, shopkeeper's materials, construction materials, and food grains have also been brought into the district. According to Simkot Airport Chief Mahendra Singh, Summit, Sita and Tara Air had conducted flights to Humla from Nepalgunj on Sunday. Flights had been obstructed due to unfavorable weather in the district for the past five days.
