SC issues short-term interim order on CAAN’s decision to restrict flights in monsson

KATHMANDU, August 27: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim not to immediately implement the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)’s decision to restrict mountain flights and sling flights after a writ was filed by airline operators for the same. 

The authority had banned mountain flights and sling flights until September citing air safety reasons. CAAN had also restricted pilots from flying for the same company where they owned certain shares. 

On Sunday, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada ordered not to implement all the five-point decisions made by the authority.

Along with the order of the Supreme Court, the decision of not being able to go to another destination without returning to the starting aerodrome of the flight will not be implemented.
