Resgular flights to Resunga Airport disrupted since two months

KATHMANDU, August 25: Flight operations to Resunga Airport have been obstructed since the second week of May due to bad weather. Prior to this, the Nepal Airlines Corporation had been conducting two flights a week on Wednesday and Friday to the airport.
A flight to the airport conducted on June 21 was diverted back to Tribhuwan International Airport citing bad weather. No flights have been scheduled to the airport since.
According to a senior officer and Air Traffic Controller of Resunga Airport, unfavorable weather and incessant rain have continuously obstructed operations at the airport.
Resunga Airport is said to be suitable for flights only in the morning as strong winds make flying difficult in the afternoons. The fare from Resunga Airport to Kathmandu has been fixed at Rs 6,300 per person. Similarly, a fee of 6,500 rupees has been determined from Kathmandu to Resunga Airport.
A car journey from Gulmi to Kathmandu takes about 13 to 22 hours. During the rainy season, the citizens have to travel even more difficult.
With the start of commercial flights, it was expected to see an increase in tourist flow.
