Influx of tourists at Pumdikot

KATHMANDU, August 24: The 51-feet tall statue of Lord Shiva, which was built in Pumdikot, with the support of the local community and the Pumdikot Development Committee, has seen an influx of domestic and foreign tourists.

With the increase in both domestic and foreign tourist, Matrika Baral, a member of the Pumdikot Development Committee, shared that preparations are underway to establish a model of Mt Suneru near the statue and other structure to add to the beauty and importance of the location under a master plan.

Construction of other statues have also been completed to add to the park.

The committee has also included plans to construct a Guru Maharaj Ashram, a gathering centre for senior citizens and a garden. Also, plans have been made to establish the location as a religious site and a major attraction point in Pokhara following uptick in tourist flow

With further plans to expand infrastructure construction work included in the master plan, around Rs 260 million has been invested so far. The committee has prepared a master plan with a cost estimate of Rs 400 million for the construction of the necessary infrastructures including the statue.
