National Rhododendron Park to be constructed at Tinjure

KATHMANDU, August 21: National Lali Gurans (Rhododendron) Park is going to be built in Tinjure, the confluence of Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, and Taplejung, to attract more tourists. The Ministry of Urban Development has already allocated Rs 10 million for the construction of the park.

The Tinjure, Milke, Jalajle (TMJ) region of the eastern hill region is a famous tourist destination and is known as the capital of Rhododendron. Large number of tourists flock to the region during the blooming and the snow season. 

Arjun Mabohang, the head of Laliguras Municipality, said that in addition to protecting the environment, they are going to protect and promote Rhododendron, the national flower.

The infrastructure development works in the park area will be done through the new city project with the support of the Ministry of Urban Development. According to Devendra Khadka, ward chairman of Laliguras Municipality-7, work will be done to plant grass, build footpaths, protect ponds, and build infrastructure to attract tourists at the park.

A few days ago, under the leadership of the mayor, community forest representatives and locals studied the park construction area. Chairman of Chaite Community Forest, Indra Bahadur Khadka, said that 28 species of Rhododendron will be planted in clusters in the park and will be used as a tourist attraction.

For the construction of the park, the municipality is going to conduct a conference on Rhododendrons, along with their transportation, planting and protection of the ponds in this area. In the park which will be built on an area of ​​about two hectares, 28 species of red roses will be brought and planted from Tinjure, Milke, Jalajle areas.
