Improvement of country's economy not possible without the help of private sector: CM Thapa

KATHMANDU, August 21: Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa of Koshi Province has said the improvement of the country's economy cannot be imagined without the help of the private sector.

Speaking at an event held on the occasion of the 11th Annual General Meeting and seventh convention of the Nepal Association of Tours and Travels Agents (NATTA) Koshi Province,  CM Thapa expressed the commitment of the provincial government to move forward in the development of the tourism sector of Koshi province by cooperating and coordinating with the private sector and reiterated that Koshi province is a province with great potential in the tourism sector.

CM Thapa said that Koshi Province is a province in its own right in terms of natural, geographical, biological, religious, and cultural aspects. "Koshi Province, which is rich in geographical diversity, incomparable natural resources, religious, cultural and historical heritage, has more potential as a tourist destination than any other province in Nepal."

Among the eight thousand meters in Nepal, the highest peak, Everest, and the five highest mountains in the world, including Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu are also located here, adding that the highest point in the world, and the lowest point from sea-level in Nepal, is also located here.

"Koshi province is the main point of attraction for tourists. The province can take a leap in terms of facilitating the domestic and foreign tourists who visit the province,” Thapa said. He requested the tourism professionals to work towards the promotion and development of the tourism sector in the region instead of criticizing the government for its shortcomings. He said that if the businessmen have allocated some money for this, the government at all three levels is also ready to invest the remaining amount.
