Mountaineer Chatur Tamang scales Elbrus for the 142nd time

KATHMANDU, August 20: Alpinist and Mountain Guide Chatur Tamang has successfully scaled Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe for the 142nd time.  He climbed the mountain on Sunday morning along with Phurpa Sherpa and Omnika Dangol, mountaineers working in the field of journalism and aviation respectively.


He has been working as a mountain guide in Russia for a long time and had started climbing Elbrus since 2002. Tamang has set a goal to climb Elbrus 200 times.


So far, Tamang has successfully climbed Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, Amadablam, Baruntse, Island Peak, and Mera Peak.
