Jalbire waterfall becoming an attractive destination for tourists

CHITWAN, August 20: Jalbire waterfall, a waterfall located at Icchakamana Rural Municipality-6 of Chitwan has become an attractive destination for tourists looking to escape the summer heat. With the construction of necessary infrastructure leading to the waterfall, Jalbire has become a popular landmark of the rural municipality in recent days.

With an uptick in tourist arrivals to visit the popular waterfall, the landmark has also helped local businesses. In the last fiscal year, the rural municipality collected over Rs 2.8 million in revenue from collecting Rs 50 per person and Rs 20 from locals as entry charges to the waterfall alone.  

Along with the waterfall, other tourist activities are also held here. Tourists from Kathmandu and foreign countries come here for canyoning, swimming, and hiking. For foreigners are charged Rs 500 per person for canyoning, Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 for picnic, and Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 for film shooting. 

Dev Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of the Jalbire Waterfall Tourism Development Committee, said that due to the natural beauty and cool and calm environment, domestic tourists are flocking here. He shared that 100 to 150 tourists visit the waterfall every day. He said that the development committee is working to supervise the waterfall and the development construction going on here, solve the problems of tourists, and listen to complaints.
