Number of passengers arriving at Lukla daily reach 60

SOLUKHUMBU, August 18:Tourist flow in the Khumbu region has increased compared to the following years after the spread of COVID-19. 

According to Kiran Gautam, a senior officer of Tenzing Hillary Airport Lukla, the number of tourists visiting the region has increased significantly. He said that with the start of the tourist season, foreign tourists started entering the Khumbu region. As tourists and residents have started returning, the number of passengers at the airport has increased.

As many as four flights landed at Lukla today providing service to around 60 passengers. The CAAN office at Lukla has stated that the number of returning passengers from Lukla is zero, but the number of incoming passengers is increasing. Yesterday, 50 passengers entered Khumbu through one flight of Tara Airlines and one flight of Sita Air, the authority said. He said that the incoming passengers include local residents and foreign and domestic tourists.
