KATHMANDU, August 18: Chuhandanda Airport is going to be built in the Tehrathum district of Koshi province at a cost of around Rs one billion. According to the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report of the project, the airport will be constructed on an area of ​​about 11 hectares.

According to the report, a runway of 640 meters length and 20 meters width will be constructed at the airport. Similarly, the taxiway will be 30 meters long and 15 meters wide, while the runway strip will be 700 meters long and 60 meters wide. According to the report, the apron of the airport will be 60 meters long and 30 meters wide.

STOL aircraft will be operated from the airport. The capacity of passengers is 54 in the airport with a parking space for two airplanes. Similarly, it is mentioned in the report that there will be an area of ​​1500 square meters for vehicle parking. The airport will have structures like a terminal building, staff room, police room, and cargo building. The report mentions that the airport can be approached from both directions.

According to the report, the current condition of the land in the area where the airport will be built is used for agriculture, barren, and slums. During the construction of the airport, the residents and settlements of Atharai Rural Municipality-6 of Tehrathum district will be affected. It is mentioned in the report that 13 households and 3 thousand 28 people will be affected.

Construction of the airport will affect 21 residential structures, 9.149 hectares of agricultural land, private forests with residential areas, etc. It is mentioned in the report that 100 unskilled, 39 semi-skilled and 40 skilled workers will be employed during the construction of the airport.
