Tourist flow in Shiv Panchayan Temple of Bhojpur remains low due to lack of promotion

KATHMANDU, August 17: The Siddheshwar Shiv Panchayan Temple in Bhojpur's Tyamkemaiyum Rural Municipality-5 has become overshadowed due to lack of promotion activities although the temple was established with the aim of promoting religious tourism in the region.

Locals believe that the wishes of devotees will be fulfilled by visiting the temple.

Locals say that if its importance can be known in the country and abroad, it will help in the economic development of this region.

Fairs are held at this place on Teej, Shivratri, Ram Navami, and various occasions.

"This Shivpanchayan temple has been overshadowed by lack of publicity", Shiv Kumar Bista, a local said. " We are now involved in the promotion at the local level. It seems that if it can be promoted well, it will also help in the economic development here," he said.

Gorakh Bahadur Bista, another local resident, said that people come here with the religious belief that their desires will be fulfilled after visiting the temple. He says that the number of people coming here is increasing after the preservation work along with the establishment of the temple. According to the locals, the establishment of the temple has helped in the development of this place which is considered to be very beautiful in nature.

"We have established Shiv Panchayan Temple in this place for the purpose of promoting religious tourism", said local teacher Nuri Sherpa, "We have all castes living here. We have built a monastery where there is a majority of our Sherpa community. It has strengthened the religious tolerance between the local communities.”

The rural municipality and ward office had allocated Rs 300,000 while the locals participated in the necessary conservation work along with the construction of the temple here by for free of cost. The rural municipality has said that it will work for development by identifying the religious and historical areas within the rural municipality.
