Five-star hotel and cable car to start operation from Dashain in Bandipur

KATHMANDU, August 17: The construction of a cable car system by Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism Ltd has reached completion. A cable car has been constructed at a distance of 1700 meters from Bandipur Rural municipality-4 Thuldhunga to the lower station and Baralthok of the same ward.

One can travel by this cable car while observing the panoramic view of Siddha Gufa which is said to be the largest cave in Asia and the surrounding scenery. According to Hari Datta Paudel, director and engineer of the company, re-testing of the cable car is currently underway.

The cable car system will have a total of 29 booths which can carry eight people each. The rate for access to the cable car has been fixed at Rs 50 for students going to and from Bandipur Bazar of Prithvi Highway, Rs 350 for journalists, Rs 500 for other passengers, and Rs 25,000 to use the restaurant cabins. According to the company, concessions will be given to citizens above 65 years of age. 

The total cost of the cable car and construction of a five-star hotel is expected to be around Rs 3.58 billion rupees. Tourists coming to Bandipur will be able to enjoy themselves in the cable car while observing the beautiful scenery.

Although the date has not been set, the company's Chairman Ramchandra Sharma informed us that the cable car is planned to be put into operation before the Dashain festival.

From the 17-floor five-star hotel named 'Queen Tower', one can easily see the hills and valleys of Bandipur Valley and various districts. So far, 92 percent of the hotel has been completed and about eight percent of the work, including coloring and finishing, is still to be done, Chairman Sharma said. 

78 rooms will be brought into use at the hotel which has a total of 90 rooms. A large hall with a capacity of 1,000 has also been constructed for seminars and other activities. From the first floor of the hotel to the seventeenth floor, a capsule lift has been arranged to go directly to the 'Queen Tower'.

Similarly, another modern hotel with facilities is being constructed at the entrance of the cable car at a cost of Rs 260 million. The company said that the construction work is going on to bring the hotel into operation soon.

Cable cars, restaurant cars and hotels up to star level have been built targeting the large number of tourists coming to Bandipur.
