Pokhara will be declared tourism capital in 2023: Mayor Acharya

KATHMANDU, August 16: Dhanraj Acharya, mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, has said that he is on a campaign to declare Pokhara as the tourism capital of Nepal.

Addressing the 15th Annual General Meeting and 7th Convention of Nepal Mountaineering Association of Gandaki Province today, Acharya said that the campaign to declare Pokhara the tourism capital is already underway. 'We have requested the Nepal government to declare Pokhara as a tourist capital. Even if the federal government doesn't act on this, the provincial government will declare Pokhara as a tourist capital within 2023,” he said. 

With the declaration of the tourism capital of beautiful Pokhara as a tourism capital, he emphasized that all three levels of the government and the tourism businessmen should work together with the Indian government and Nepal's airline company to operate the Pokhara Regional International Airport.
