‘A Man With A Mission; Life And Times Of Captain Bobby Bikram Shah’ book launched

KATHMANDU, August 14:A book titled 'A Man with a Mission, Life and Times of Captain Bobby Bikram Shah' has been launched amid a program in memory of the late aviator. Written by his wife Jaya Rajaya Laxmi Shah and Maheshwar Bhakta Shrestha, Captain Shah was the former captain of Nepal Airlines Corporation but more importantly, remembered for his contribution towards advancing the Nepalese aviation sector.

In the program, Lalit Bikram Shah, former director of the Air Department, said that the late Shah was a sincere and diligent person, adding that the released book will be useful for anyone who wants to understand the aviation sector as it contains the national and international experience of Nepal's aviation sector.

Yuvraj Adhikari, executive chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation, said that even though he was used to flying, Captain Shah was a person who never forgot his roots and place in the land. He also mentioned that Captain Shah has made an incomparable contribution to advance the golden era of the corporation. 

He said that the book includes the field of Nepal's aviation and not only the life stories of senior and professional captains. He also urged the family to build a statue of the late Captain Bobby Bikram Shah and expressed the commitment of NAC to support the construction of the statue.

Birendra Bahadur Basnet, managing director of Buddha Air, said that it would be a true tribute to Shah if the senior captains at present could follow his contribution. Birendra Bahadur Deoja, former director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, said that Captain Shah's guidance is memorable in the field of Nepal's aviation. He said that Shah himself is a person who devoted his life to the country’s development.

Rajeev Bikram Shah, son of Captain Shah and Member of Parliament of Karnali Province, said that he got inspiration from his father to continuously advance himself in his field of work.

Bobby Bikram Shah, who served in the Nepal Airlines Corporation for almost three decades, joined the Nepal Airlines Corporation as a co-pilot. At the same time, he played a leadership role by holding executive positions such as captain, deputy general manager of the corporation. It is mentioned in the history of Nepal Airlines Corporation that he has a flight time of 16,134  hours while staying in the Nepal Airlines Corporation. 

Furthermore, Jaya Rajya Laxmi Shah, the author of the book, said that Shah was a multifaceted and hardworking person. Shah died in 1993 due to cancer.
