DRI raids LOD nightclub

KATHMANDU, August 14: The Department of Revenue Investigation has conducted a raid on the Thamel-based nightclub 'Lord of Drinks (LOD) on suspicion of revenue evasion.

A team of the department conducted a raid at 5AM on Saturday and seized the account. According to the department sources, the raid was conducted after a complaint of revenue evasion was received in the business going on in LOD.

"We are conducting an investigation by taking transaction data from LOD's accounts and its computer," said an employee of the department. "The raid was carried out after a complaint was received that the revenue was very low even though the club has a large turnover," The club had come into operation in February 2019.

With a capacity of 1800 to 2000 people, this club has more than 150 employees, from bouncers to waiters. The club is spread across 26 annas of leased land and was opened with an investment of Rs 160 million.
