Saurya Airline to replace jet-engine with ATR aircrafts

KATHMANDU, August 13: Saurya Airlines is set to procure three 'ATR' aircraft citing difficulty in bearing the cost of its jet aircraft. The airline company is currently operating domestic flights with two jet-engine aircrafts.

According to Deepak Pokhrel, chairman of the airlines, the company has a plan to bring in two ATR 72 seater aircraft within the next six months, adding that the necessary preparations have reached completion as well.

Pokharel shared that preparations are being made to purchase ATR aircraft as the cost of flying through jet aircraft is high. An agreement has been reached with India's Kuber Group, one of the investors of the airlines to bring ATR aircraft within six months.

He had proposed to end the partnership with the partners if bringing ATRs was not possible, even though it is convenient for the passengers to fly through the jet plane.

Pokharel says that he is preparing to send a letter to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority for the necessary consent to purchase a new aircraft.

The airline has been flying to Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, and Dhangadhi from Kathmandu.
