Buddha Air adds new ATR-72 to its fleet

KATHMANDU, August 10: Buddha Air has added a new ATR-72 aircraft to its fleet expanding its total ATR-72 aircraft to 16. The aircraft ATR 72-500 with a call sign 9N-ANW is scheduled to arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport on Friday from France after receiving approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) today. With the new addition, Buddha Air will now have 13 ATR 72 seaters and three ATR 42 seaters in its massive fleet.
Buddha Air started commercial flights on October 11, 1997, and has provided service to over 10.80 million passengers as of mid-September of the last fiscal year. 
The air service provider had a turnover of 6.8 billion rupees in 2018 but saw a huge huge decline in its business in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.
In 2022, Buddha Air saw a turnover of Rs 850 million per month, a significant increase compared to the turnover of Rs 560 million in 2019. 
Buddha Air has been conducting more than 100 flights carrying around 10,000 passengers daily. The airline has been flying to major cities of the country such as Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Dhangadhi, and other destinations. including Benaras in India.
