KATHMANDU, August 9:With the Bharatpur Metropolitan City set to celebrate 2024 as the year of tourism, the delay in construction of 'Meghauli Rhino Park', being built at an investment of Rs 210 million with a deadline of four years has sparked dssapointment among locals and authorities alike.

According to Meghauli Tourism Development Committee Chairman Moti Bhusal, the construction of the park has not picked up pace due to technical reasons.. He said, "The construction work has been delayed when the blueprint of the statue was changed." Due to the delay of the construction company, the scheduled construction work of the park has not been completed.' He said that it would be good if the Rhino Park could be completed when Bharatpur, which is important for tourism in the central part of the country, is about to be celebrated with the slogan 'Visit Bharatpur'.

For the development of tourist destinations, a Rhino Park is being constructed in Malika Central Community Forest through the funds allocated by the Bagmati State Government. The park is being constructed in an area of ​​376 hectares, i.e. around 550 bighas, covering four community intermediate forest areas in Ward No-27 and 28 of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality. Radhakrishna, Malika, Rapti Betari and Sadabahar intermediate community forest areas are included in the park. The park is being built in connection with the Meghauli Airport.
