Six-month Chinese language training for tourism professionals concludes

KATHMANDU, August A six-month Chinese language training jointly organized by the Chinese embassy in Nepal and the Nepal Tourism Board, and the Nepal China Educational and Cultural Centre has concluded. The fifth Chinese language training was organized to improve the linguistic ability of Nepali tourism professionals and help them speak with Chinese tourists visiting Nepal. The training was attended by 40 tourism professionals including staff from the NTB.

Bharatmani Subedi, secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, while distributing certificates to the participants on the completion of the training, mentioned that political, economic, and cultural relations have existed between Nepal and China for a long time and said that this training will enhance the capacity of tourism professionals as well as strengthen people-to-people relations. He shared that the ministry is going to conduct similar Chinese language training in Pokhara and Bhairahawa and expected support from the embassy.

Wang Jin, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, said that the language training not only imparted information about the language but also about Chinese art and culture. He said that the “Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Boat Festival'' held in Pokhara in collaboration with the NTB  has helped in the country's tourism development adding that such collaborations will continue in the days to come.

Similarly, the CEO of NTB, Dhananjay Regmi shared that Chinese tourist account for one of the highest numbers of tourist arrivals in the country and shared that such training will further assist in the tourism promotion of Nepal. He also shared that various programs are being held in collaboration with the embassy for tourism promotion adding that such kinds of trainings are expected to further enhance the capacity of Nepali tourism professionals.
