Over 29,000 tourists visited Myagdi in last FY

KATHMANDU, August 3: As many as 29,328 tourists visited Myagdi district In the last fiscal year 2022/23 which ended in mid-July, a significant increase compared to 7,926 who visited in the FY 2021/22. 

According to the data maintained by the District Police Office, Myagdi, tourists from the UK, France, China, Korea, America, and India visited Myagdi in the last fiscal. Similarly, a handful of tourists from Slovakia, Serbia, Vietnam, Chile, and Taiwan have also visited the district in the same period. 

As per statistics, more than 80 percent of tourists visit Ghodepani, Poon hill area located in Annapurna rural municipality-6 of the district.

Tourists come to visit Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himal Arohan, natural hot springs, Khopralek, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri Sanctuary, Dhaulagiri Cycle, Dhaulagiri Icefall, Todke, Rupse Waterfall, Andhagalchi, Galeshwar, Beanibazar and other areas located in the district.

despite the increase in the number of tourists following the spread of COVID-19, the number had increased significantly last year. "The hotel had to be closed for three years after the pandemic but the number of tourists increased last year," she said, adding that further increase may have been affected due to the government’s new rule that forbids travelers from visiting certain trekking zones without a guide.
