Efforts underway to attract one million tourist for ‘Bharatpur visit Year 2024’

KATHMANDU, July 30: In a bid to make the 'Bharatpur Visit Year 2024' a grand success, efforts are being made to invite residents of Chitwan including their relatives living abroad across 77 countries.   
According to Som Sapkota, Chitwan residents living in 52 countries have been contacted and invited to attend the Bharatpur visit year 2024. 
Under the banner “Send home a friend,” promotion campaigns have been initiated across the international market. “Brouchers aimed to promote the visit year are already being distributed across restaurants, hotels, and stores run by Nepalis in foreign countries. Also, representatives of such countries are also invited for the visit year,” Sapkota said. 
He shared that hed of local governments from Malta, Japan, and the UK have also been invited to attend the visit year. At the same time, the Nepali government and Nepal Tourism Board will also be promoting the visit year in various programs to be held abroad in the coming days. A photo/video clip is also being prepared to invite the ambassadors of countries where Chitwan residents currently reside in. Stating that residents of Chitwan are residing across 77 countries across the world, non-resident Nepalis from 52 countries have been invited so far. 
A target to attract 200,000 foreigners has been set for the visit year. According to Sapkota, the non-resident Nepali’s association (NRNA) is spread across 90 countries but thNepalis live across118 nations.  
Renu Dahal, mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City shared that the visit year will be promoted at the national and international level to attract as many tourists in Bharatpur.  Stating that various preparations and processes are being carried out by various committees, the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the federal government has also been requested to take place in Bharatpur. ‘We have set a target to attract 200,000 foreigners and 700,000 Nepalis to Bharatpur on the occasion,” she said, adding that the necessary infrastructures have already been completed. The metropolitan city started the process of allocating a separate budget to plant trees and make the city environment-friendly also underway. 
 There are over 30 tourist destinations across Bharatpur including Chitwan National Park. Mayor Dahal shared her belief that the visit year will not only promote Bharatpur but the whole Chitwan to the world.
