Tourist information centre set up in Panauti

KATHMANDU, July 28: A tourist information centre has been established in the historical and archaeological town of Kavrepalanchok on the occasion of the 15th foundation day of the Panauti Tourism Development Center.

The state Minister for Water, Energy, and Irrigation for Bagmati Province Tirtha Lama inaugurated the office of the centre amid a program on Thursday. Stating that it is necessary to make Panauti known religiously, to increase the arrival of tourists, and to extend the stay of religious tourists, Lama assured to assist in the process of listing Panauti as a world heritage site.

The centre has been established with the aim of introducing tourists to the tourist spots within the Panauti area through the information centre, managing vehicle congestion, and to facilitate the problems faced by the tourists who have come to Panauti while also maintaining their security. 

On this occasion, Ram Sharan Bhandari, chief of Panauti, said that continuous work is being done for the development, protection, and promotion of tourist spots in the Panauti area.

Purushottam Karmacharya, the president of the centre, said that the efforts to make Panauti known religiously are institutionalised and the goal is to increase the possibility of tourists coming from the local level. According to him, the purpose of the information centre is to satisfy the interest of tourists in the culture and civilization of the place after entering the Panauti market. It is expected that the Tourism Information Center will provide more support for the sustainable development of Panauti.

Furthermore, stating that the Panauti Tourism Development Center has previously conducted 108 types of programs, Founder President Suresh Sainju of the development centre said that more support will be provided through the established centre to make Panauti known across the globe.
