Panauti Tourism Development Center to provide 'Panauti Heritage Passport' to facilitate tourists

KATHMANDU, July 28: To ease hassles related to identifying tourist destinations and finding hotels for tourists, Panauti Tourism Development Center is set to provide 'Panauti Heritage Passport' to facilitate the tourists visiting the region. 

While UNESCO in each tourist area for tourist convenience has been providing ‘Heritage Passport’ with included information of such heritage sites, Panauti Tourism Development Center is also going to do the same in Panauti to provide related information about nearby tourist destinations. Prashant Shrestha, member of the development board informed that 'Panauti Tourist Information Center' has been started with new management to facilitate tourists visiting the historical and cultural city of Panauti. "Now we are making it easier by distributing the 'Heritage Passport' with the details of every tourist and the necessary information for the route and hotel and accommodation to visit Panauti and other nearby places," he said.

In addition to informing the tourists coming to Panauti about the history and its importance, the centre has also prepared a map with necessary supporting materials to inform tourists about the places they need to visit in Panauti. President Purushottam Karmacharya, said that information, security, and facilities are the first things that are needed to attract tourists to Panauti, which is why the centre is working on a plan to complete it. He also said that information about the tourist destinations of Panauti, plans are also being made for the safety of tourists.

He said that it is necessary to arrange tourist buses for tourists to go from one place to another and tourist ambulances in case of illness. Along with that, he said that it is necessary for the municipality to make a plan and move forward in order to find a base that can help earn a living for Panauti residents.

Ram Sharan Bhandari, head of Panauti Municipality, said that he is working to list Panauti in the World Heritage site, adding that the bodies concerned are moving ahead by making necessary plans to attract tourists.

According to the Panauti Tourism Development Center, 12,000 to 15,000 tourists visit Panauti annually.
