AOAN forms special task force to investigate air accidents
KATHMANDU, July 28: After recording half a dozen air accidents in a year, the Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has formed a 'Special Task Force'. The association has formed a four-member committee under the leadership of former tourism secretary Yagya Prasad Gautam.
According to general secretary of the association, Manoj Karki, informed that a committee has been formed to find out the cause of the accident with the aim of providing assistance to the government. The task force will prepare the report of accidents and present them within a month.
“An accident investigation commission has already been formed by the government. On our own initiative, we have formed this task force to find out the cause of the accidents that have been happening in recent times,'' Karki said.
Captain Hira Babu Dahal of Heli Everest, Yeti Airlines Safety Director Ravi Kansakar, Fishtail Air Engineer MK Shrestha, and former Safety Officer for Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Narayan Dangol are members of the committee.
